Spring Is Around The Corner // Tracy Simmons

I’d say Spring is around the corner but, I don’t want to be held responsible for the massive snow storm that comes in the next few weeks! I am definitely enjoying the sunshine and the sunrises March brings to the Alaskan Frontier. I will not enjoy the Spring Forward time change this weekend, which will roll the mornings back to darkness for a bit longer but, we are on the approach to those long summer days, no matter what the clock does.

It’s been a pretty busy first few months of the year with the regular business of being a church, crafting Sunday messages and worship services, and looking after the many projects happening around the property. I’m excited about the stuff that’s happening, with the upcoming musical theatre production of “Little Shop of Horrors”, produced by AKapelle, Inc. and hosted by C3AK. I have been thrilled with the conversations this has opened in the community, and the fact I have had numerous Gospel conversations with our cast and crew. Tuesday evening, I was able to have another one-on-one conversation which I am praying will open the door for more, in the future. This is the ultimate goal of all the work we have done to create a space suitable for producing stage events, guided by the principles we treasure, in, for, and with our community. PRAY WITH US and support this show by getting your own tickets at http://akapelle.yapsody.com.  You can also share that link on social media, as well as our home page for the show http://www.akapelle.org, and you can find the event on face book at https://www.facebook.com/events/979704215558141/

Something else I am VERY excited about is our new series, kicking off this week, “Who Is Jesus? The 7 ‘I AM’ Statements of Jesus”

Famously, C.S. Lewis made the statement “I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to.”    C.S. Lewis in Mere Christianity

In this series we will examine some of the places in the Bible where we don’t have to wonder about who Jesus is, He tells us from His own mouth! This is so critical to our understanding of our faith, and for those who are searching for the answer to this question, “Who Is Jesus?”  I hope you’ll make a plan to be with us, and bring or invite a friend. In fact, “plan your time with church in mind.”  You won’t be disappointed.

Finally, as a quick finance update, I am glad to tell you your generous giving continues to sustain C3AK in this often tough first quarter. As of Sunday the 3rd of March, our YTD general giving is almost exactly what we set our budget to! That’s a HUGE blessing, given the struggles of the past year and half, and the impacts of our economy and other factors.

Overall, we are still “behind”, because we knew our total budget was a little larger than our projected income. So, we are right where we hoped we would be, with room and prayers to GROW!

So, keep praying. Keep giving. And look with us to the future growth of C3AK.

 Blessings to you all,

Pastor Tracy
