Check Yourself Before You Wreck Yourself

"...do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. [7] And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Philippians 4:6–7 (ESV)

You might feel like you are the only one, but most of us feel overwhelmed these days. Pandemic. International tensions.Societal discord. Cultural dumpster fire. Political infighting.

Even if these things are in the background, there is still plenty to distract and overload. Kids. Health. Aging parents. Job stress. Rising grocery costs. Rising gas prices.

In the midst of all of this, it is easy to make bad decisions, most of which are reactionary rather than considered. We make choices in the fog of fear, doubt, confusion, panic, or any combination thereof. And, unfortunately, these less than ideal decisions tend to circle around to bite us...well, you know.

The attached article details five mistakes we tend to make when overwhelmed, and some practical solutions to address these issues.

There is one bigger issue that leaves the rest of these in the dust. In the midst of that previously mentioned fog, it is easy to think and act as if we are all alone. As if everything rests in our hands. No matter how under siege we may feel, we must never forget...

"...for he has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' So we can confidently say,
'The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5b-6, ESV)

AND

"...casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you." (1 Peter 5:7, ESV)

Think about it.
